Microgrid in power system has drawn attention widely for the major benefits in recent years. It is the most economical alternative to conventional energy system which uses Renewable Energy (RE) resources. RE sources ensure pollution free and clean environment by emitting zero CO2. In this paper, a microgrid system using solar photovoltaics (PV) as the Distributed Energy Resources (DERs) and a controlling method for managing the components of microgrid are designed using MATLAB/SIMULINK. The results show that microgrid system is able to become as an alternative energy to replace the fossil fuel based energy system. Also by integrating an effective controller that able to manage the loads and the resources the system is more stable and reliable

Microgrid in power system has drawn wide attention due to its significant benefits in terms of sustainable energy system in recent years. This approach is the most economical alternative to conventional energy system which uses Renewable Energy (RE) resources. RE sources ensure pollution free and clean environment by emitting zero CO2. This paper proposes a design of a microgrid system using solar photovoltaics (PV) as the Distributed Energy Resources (DERs) and a controlling method for managing the components of microgrid by using MATLAB/SIMULINK. The results show that microgrid system is promising as alternative to replace the fossil fuel based energy system. Integration of an effective controller can help to manage the loads and resources, resulting in more stable and reliable.

Control strategies for microgrid with multiple distributed energy resources

    Get PDF
Microgrid is considered as a smart solution to the global energy crisis and environmental issues these days for employing green technology. This is a small scale, usually renewable energy based distributed generation system which basically serves local users and does not require transmission lines. However, Microgrid needs a suitable control system to improve its efficiency and reliability to work as a standalone unit or as parallel connected unit with the main utility grid. For instance, renewable energy sources such as, Solar Photovoltaics and Wind Turbine depend on weather conditions thus result in output power fluctuation. In this case, a storage unit is essential that can provide back up during low generation period and can store outstanding energy at the time of less demand. In addition, integration of multiple distribution energy resources raises the energy generation of Microgrid sufficiently but increases complications in operations as well. Besides, a communication network is also vital in this case for information transfer within the sources and other components of the structure. Hence, a study related to advance control system to maintain a smart energy management incorporation with fault detection and self-healing aspects of Microgrid is presented in this research. The purpose of this project is to find out the most advantageous control techniques for Microgrid with multiple distributed energy resources which need to be user-friendly as well. Research shows that, Droop control techniques are beneficial for above requirements performing Decentralized control method where communication networks are not essential. Moreover, in this paper some MATLAB/SIMULINK based simulations are presented. Where a Microgrid is modelled that consists of distributed energy resources namely Photovoltaic, Wind turbine and Fuel cells. Finally, simulation results of different droop control techniques are presented and some discussions regarding tested techniques are enclosed

On the dynamics of high-risk fertility in Bangladesh

    Get PDF
Our aim in this study is to explore the dynamics of age-pattern of childbearing and risk fertility among Bangladeshi women. By using age-specific fertility rates of 21 age schedules from 1986 to 2006 contribution of early, on time and delayed childbearing on total fertility rates are studied and time trend behavior of risk fertility is observed. Our study explored that the level of early childbearing seems to be stagnant over the years. The decrement of the high-risk fertility is due to the decrease of total fertility rates, however, the contribution of early childbearing to the total fertility rates is unchanged and contribution of early childbearing to the high-risk fertility is more influential than the delayed childbearing. The ratio of risk-birth is plateau at the same level even after twenty years. Possible policies to reduce the risk-birth are also discussed in this paper

Medication understanding and health literacy among patients with multiple chronic conditions: a study conducted in Bangladesh

    Get PDF
Objectives: Medication understanding is critical for patients who suffer from multiple chronic conditions in order to reduce medication error and is often associated with poor health outcomesand low adherence. This study aims to identify the gap of medication knowledge among multiple chronic condition patients in Bangladesh, in order to aid physicians and other healthcare providers in improving health literacy. Methods: Individual interviews of a convenience sample of multiple chronic condition patients in Bangladesh were heldwhere they were asked a number of questions for assessing medication related literacy. Results: More than 26% patients failed to cite the brand name of all their prescribed medications while the rate of patients not knowing the generic names was far worse (88.1%). Nearly 1 out of every 4 patients did not know the purpose of all their medications and more than half of the participants (55%) did not know the strengths of their drugs. While knowledge about medication routes and regimen was satisfactory, awareness regarding risk factors of medicine was lowest of all. Only 1 out of every 4 patients had a habit of reading drug information leaflet. Patient’s ability to correctly state the purpose of their medication seemed to be positively associated with age (p=0.004) and negatively associated with number of medicines taken (p=0.03).Conclusions: Many patients demonstrated poor health literacy regarding medication. Routine review of medications from physician or health provider can significantly improve their health literacy, leading to better treatment outcome and medication adherence

Japanese encephalitis virus infection in South-East Asia: An immuno-epidemiological twist

    Get PDF
Background:Japanese encephalitis (JE) is one of the most important zoonotic diseases in a cosmopolitan manner.  Japanese encephalitis virus (JEV) infection represents at least 70 % of emerging diseases caused by the mosquito-borne  JEV. Nearly 20-30% of case fatality corroborated in JEV infections with 30-50% neurologic and psychiatric disorders. A strong epidemic distribution is observed mainly in South-East Asia, demonstrating typical seasonal characteristics and occasional outbreaks. Depending on the genetic diversity, geographical distribution, and emerging natures of JEV, the disease surveillance, and immunization strategies are also varied. Uncontrolled population growth, haphazard agro-animal farming, and ecological imbalance steer the emergence and reemergence of JEV occurrences. Some murine models elucidate the immunological phenomena of JEV infections, the more detailed pathogenesis depending on the genetic variation is yet to be well defined. And the immune-epidemiological traits also address significant concerns regarding the effective vaccines and immunotherapeutics against JEV infections. Therefore, we summarized some critical notions on molecular epidemiology, immunogenicity, and genetic variance of JEV in South-East Asia

A Recommender System for Adaptive Examination Preparation using Pearson Correlation Collaborative Filtering

    Get PDF
Distance learning is any type of far-off instruction where the understudy isn't actually present for the exercise. It is blasting gratitude to the force of the Internet. Distance learning plays a vital role for examination preparation where multiple choice questions can be utilized to evaluate the performance of students. Multiple Choice Question (MCQ) is a type of question used in the examination to evaluate the performance of students accordingly where usually four options are given along with the question, and one has to choose the correct answer. This research includes a simulation model that has been built to keep the learners continue to learn the subjects they might be weak in. We have developed a methodology that may guide a student to update his/her area of weakness by using a recommender system based on Pearson Correlation Collaborative Filtering approach. The paper describes a recommender system that will keep track of a learner's profile and create an adaptive training mechanism using the performance matrix
